Hard to believe but our dear little girl Maeve would be 13 today if she has stayed with us.. time fly’s by so fast.. you would be growing into a young lady, a child still and yet not.. Blessings be sweet girl..
So the beef was picked up today and counted out..
You know we had to try some for a late lunch.. cooked up two steaks, and then poured some rich sheep milk into the pan to deglaze and simmer it down to pour over the steaks.. heavenly, more beefy then I thought it would be given his age, but very lean meat, not alot of marbling but tender none the less, consider this was cooked from frozen state, remarkably tender, can’t imagine how tender it would be done correctly..
Well, the folks on the facebook page has way to much fun guessing and I promised I would tell if someone got it right.. but I have to ask, what is with everyone wanting us to raise and eat Santa poor helpers LOL

Ok, there are lots of recipes out there and If its the first time you are making a hand salve, do consider spending a bit of time reading and learning what the different oils do, and if you want to add in scents, or colors or other extra’s..
This is as plain as you can get, it is a bit oily going on, but it soaks in wonderfully, so this is something you put on in the evening or at coffee time, when you have the ability to let your hands sit for a few min to let it do its thing, but on the other hand, you can pronouce all the ingredents and point in fact, other then the beeswax, you could even eat them 🙂
Coconut oil, The best Quality olive oil you have in the house, raw honey and beeswax.. that’s it folks.. now if you don’t want to use a handheld blender, don’t add the honey, you will not beat it in by hand (unless you are alot more strong arm then me), over a very low gentle heat melt them together, I have seen some folks do it in a bowl with hot water, I have seen some that use the microwave, but for me, I just do it over very low heat on the stove in a steel pot.. once its all melted and mixed together, pour into a clean glass jar and allow to set, I do stir it a bit at the beginning but once it cools, I tend to let it alone and let it do its own thing.. some things say stir and whip it the whole time it cools, if effects the end result by letting it be more fluffy, less solid but having it fairly solid does not bother me any..
This recipe turned out to be just yum! I made my regular pie crust but with a touch more salt then normal in it to go with the meat.. I cooked up half a pd of pork/half a pd of lamb, one big onion (grated), 1/4th a med size head of cabbage, one cup of mixed peppers red and green, spices where a mixed bag but for ease, I would say just use montreal steak spice, with a touch more garlic, along with a half tsp of cinnamon and 1/4th teaspoon of fresh grated nutmeg..  If you wanted to play with it, go half fresh cabbage and half crout, and if you wanted to really add a little “bang”, dice and add two large dill pickles.
I cooked the meat mix and set it in a bowl, made the pie, and put the cooked filling in and then baked in a 350 oven till golden brown on bottom/sides.
This was taken to a potluck supper and got rave reviews!
This little hide has turned out to be so lovely, and I really want a project to do with it that will do it justice, any idea’s are welcome, Its got a truly fine hide on it that it would not hold up to alot of work, and its a perfect peice, not a single nick or break in the hide itself that while a trim might be needed, I would perfer something that could be used to show it off in its wholeness..
Its not a big one, its meant to block the wind from coming and to keep your neck area warm, not be able to do a full head wrap around but it sure is cheery! Here is my sweet Bella showing of, so I could take a photo for you..
