Red Currents are needing daily picking now!

I should be putting some of these away for winter, I should be making some into fresh jelly, but I’m not..

Instead I am boiling this babies up and making fresh red current juice for the fridge, the house smells awesome as they are simmer on the stove.  I made a lovely red current Elderflower iced tea that was a true delight. Have you tried that combo. What is your favorite way to use red currents.

  1. Sheri says:

Beautiful Berries! Love the color! They grow wild here but many have been dug up and moved into private gardens. I would love to get some going some day. I just harvested a sliver soft neck garlic and made my first garlic braids and I’m coming down the home stretch of solar drying mint and putting that up. Everbearing strawberries are still going (slower) and blueberries and Raspberries are still putting out. It’s been a wonderful berry year and from what information I’m gathering most gardens are about a month ahead than normal.

  2. Eating them off the bush along with the Mulberries that grow right alongside…
It may not be my favourite way, but it’s the ONLY way that I ever get any (otherwise the birds beat me to it; )
