Egg Thief’s! Ravens

Well, i have been wondering why this duck hen has not got a full nest of eggs and started sitting!

And her big drake mate clearly is not doing his job! and yes he is bigger then that Raven and has his full spring spurs.

Into the duck house and back out with a egg, both the male and female raven one right after the other!

Up to the top of the duck house and then up to the top of the pen and way they flew towards the river!

They will be back! and as i happen to love ravens, i will make a raven approved feeding spot near by and this will have to get a cover over it, we normally cover it with a tarp for extra shade but this is the first time i have ever had egg raiders..

Photos were taken from the porch, so I was pushing my lens for sure..

I had a raven for many years (from a rescue). He loved his eggs – learned to mimic the excited ‘cluck cluck’ the hens make when they lay an egg – would get them all worked up then swipe a fresh egg. Miss that bird.

    • What a blessing that must have been! I have made friends with different ravens over the years and i would be beyond blessed if i ever got to share my life with one in such a way. I can believe you miss that bird, i found the northern ravens to be more active in terms of being with people, dogs and so on, then my current location, granted its not been that long that we have even had ravens here, for many years it was only the crows, the ravens might move though but not stay..
