If you don’t have a tractor, how do you move these behemoths… Especially once they start to unravel?

I believe the express you asked for it, you got it applies. 🙂
Lucky you but I don’t envy the task of moving it around. Will you be able to use critter power or would that put them at risk with the possible mold?

    • If I am unrolling them and moving it around, I Would for sure want to be wearing a mask while doing so, but in answer, yes, I can use the draft power to move it around, I would have to do research on the safety of allowing the pigs to work it, that one I would be a bit ?? on. But having said that, I have no issues with them working in last years mulch and compost, and that has lots of mold in it and I never worry about it.. so hmmm?

    • Yes, I know that I agreed to it, I just didn’t expect it to happen so soon or when I couldn’t direct where they were placed, and I guess I was just surprised at how much space they took up is all 🙂

I suspect that black bottomed bale is full of the mildew type of “possible mold” and not safe for any living creature without a respirator. Please do take care FG?

      • Hi Deb

I am not knocking saftey, and yes we will all for sure be using gloves, masks etc while working with it, and I agree, I would not be using it as any form of feed or bedding, for the garden, it will be just fine for what I want to do with it.. I will take care, and I will take some photos as well, because I have worked with off=bales before and often what looks really bad on the outside only goes very little in on the bale itself, so we will see on these ones as well. They were bales wet at anywhere between 11 to 14 percent, but I was warned on that, so I knew what I was getting there. Still he was kind enough being them before it flooded in that area, and really soaked them and then for sure all the middles would have gone, as it stands now, being a round bale, being that they were side stacked, even if the outsides are rough, the middles and inner still have a good shot at being in decent shape, only opening them up will give me my answers.

Well hey (snort, snort; ) they’re closer to compost this way anyway, right?

Didn’t you say something about target practice in an earlier post? Looks like you could have a full blown range 😉
