It’s now law that you must tag your sheep before they leave for the butcher, this is part of a tracking system for both canada and also to keep us on par with global record keeping etc.
I have the most basic and cheapest tags available, you look at your ear and split it into three, you want to take in the middle of the middle.. but slightly on the downside so that there is still room for the ear to grow..





Well, if you have to… But at least they’re not great big monstrous things like the ones on cattle, right?
While I did the lamb so I could show it, I don’t normally tag until the day before they leave the farm. you can get big tags for the sheep, but i go with as small as allowed.
o and you really do have to. if you want them hauled and butchered for farm gate sales.
