Grapes? Pretty much like yours – for some reason, absolutely AMAZING – I’ve never seen anything like it!! (But they are dumping leaves like crazy to make up for the water stress.):
High Bush Cranberry? Mm,m not so much… Too much competition for the water available, I think. (For a year like this… Bad siting on our part): Tons of fruit on the Mountain Ash so far; though if we don’t get more rain than the three hours of off and on that we got last night, not so sure how much longer the trees will hold on to it all.
    NEED MORE RAIN!

    • I hear you about the grapes, they are going crazy here but for me at least so far, so water stress on them, I think their roots go deep enough that they are just thriving, they seem to be loving the heat! I was looking at a mountain ash tree that we drive by and had the thought of wow, that’s a lot of fruit on it, wonder if the owners use any?

I hear you about the rain, still farmers R’s corn was just starting to tassel, so the rain we got was perfect for that crop.. hope you get more rain this week and i am hoping for at least a little more later this week..

Grapes are coming along but not as big as yours. We haven’t had your rain. We only got about 20 minutes of hard rain on Sunday and nothing more expected until possibly tomorrow. Tassels are all out on the corn so hopefully a little rain will set the cobs… we can only pray. Did hear though that the wells in Norland (Ontario) have gone dry.

    • Hope you get some much needed rain, good to hear that the grapes are coming, I keep thinking I have read somewhere that their roots go really deep, but have not had the time to dig out the books and confirm. I hear you about the corn. I heard on the news this week that many wells where going dry up and down the ottawa valley as well. I know that a number of towns where concerned as their big wells where not recovering at the rate they wanted them to be doing so.

This morning on CBC ottawa, they had a farmer from the renfrew area that said they were asking for relief from the feds and province as it was so bad in their area, crops total loss, folks selling their livestock, no hay for winter feed etc. sure sounds bad..
