Music while you work!

Eve Of Destruction by Barry Mcguire

The eastern world, it is exploding
Violence flarin’, bullets loadin’
You’re old enough to kill, but not for votin’
You don’t believe in war, but what’s that gun you’re totin’
And even the Jordan River has bodies floatin’

But you tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
Ah, you don’t believe
We’re on the eve
of destruction.

Don’t you understand what I’m tryin’ to say
Can’t you feel the fears I’m feelin’ today?
If the button is pushed, there’s no runnin’ away
There’ll be no one to save, with the world in a grave
[Take a look around ya boy, it’s bound to scare ya boy]

And you tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
Ah, you don’t believe
We’re on the eve
of destruction.

Yeah, my blood’s so mad feels like coagulatin’
I’m sitting here just contemplatin’
I can’t twist the truth, it knows no regulation.
Handful of senators don’t pass legislation
And marches alone can’t bring integration
When human respect is disintegratin’
This whole crazy world is just too frustratin’

And you tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
Ah, you don’t believe
We’re on the eve
of destruction.

Think of all the hate there is in Red China
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama
You may leave here for 4 days in space
But when you return, it’s the same old place
The poundin’ of the drums, the pride and disgrace
You can bury your dead, but don’t leave a trace
Hate your next-door neighbor, but don’t forget to say grace
And… tell me over and over and over and over again, my friend
You don’t believe
We’re on the eve
Of destruction
Mm, no no, you don’t believe
We’re on the eve
of destruction.

This is the wild women sending out her morning hello gang, I am pulling double duty on the farm for next little while, and I got to say, I love music while I am working, I found my mixed CD that has this song on it, and I belt it out while doing morning chores.. Copperhead road is a close second when I am in this mood.. 80’s Hard and Heavy!!

So do you like music while you clean? Work? Does it get the juices going?!

Right now, I’m on a Skillet, Johnny Cash bender. Is that a weird combination or what?

Wow, these are really heavy lyrics!! Never heard this one before, but if it’s anything like the beat/style of Copperhead Road I’ll definitely enjoy checking it out. (Correction: did some digging around, but couldn’t listen): Now that I’ve read his background (with the Old Christy Minstrels) I think I probably do have it stuck down deep in the old memory bank.
Sounds lIke your exercise regime has you totally stoked up for double duty while your DH is away. Congrats! And don’t forget, muscle’s 10x as dense as fat (so let your clothes tell the tale, not the scale; )

My latest go to music is the Goat Rodeo Session- particularly this song

With a hammer and nails and a fear of failure, we are building a share,
Between here and heaven, between a wait and the wedding, for as long as we both shall be dead to the world.
Beyond the boys and the girls, trying to keep us calm.
We can practice our lines ‘til we’re deaf and blind, to ourselves, to each other, and it’s

Fall, not winter, spring, not summer, cool, not cold.
And it’s warm, not hot, have we all forgotten that we’re getting old?

With an arrow and bow, some seeds left to sew, we are staking our claim.
On ground so fertile, we forget who we’ve hurt along the way and reach out for a strange hand to hold, someone strong but not bold enough to tear down the wall.
‘Cause we ain’t lost enough to find, the stars aren’t crossed the wire line, and why fall hard and not soft into

My taste in music is all over the place, but lately I can’t get enough Old Crow Medicine Show. Check them out – they are different for sure and man can they play! I was going to post a link but thought better of it…some of their songs are not so PG13….especially “Mary’s Kitchen”. But it makes me laugh and gets me moving! 🙂
