Cream of Wheat

The hounds got me up on time this morning and my chores that normally take about an hour an half, took three plus today, but at least my foot is a little better today.. I took apart, moved and set back up the white panels so that I could tie the tarp to it again, its cold this morning, and the rain turned to snow yesterday afternoon, and the world is white.

That means a hot breakfast for sure, and it seemed like a perfect porridge day, I so rarely allow myself this one, Normally, I do Steel Cut oat or Sunny Boy or Red River but felt like giving myself a treat, so I made cream of wheat, with just a touch of fresh raw local honey and cinnamon all served up in my Grandma’s E good dishes.

Did you know that Cream of Wheat has been around since 1893, its low in calories at 120 calories per cup, its fat-free and low in sodium (even more so, as I made mine with water and added no salt) its been enriched with the B vitamins, vitamin A, and iron. As its lacking fiber, its not the best in terms of the glycemic index, but that is part of the reason I added in the cinnamon to help in this regard.
