Sheep Round up this morning!

Mocha’s big Chocolate Ram Lamb from 2010

A blue pickup drive’s into my lane this morning, and when I pop my head out to say Hi, I get a friendly Hi Val, two of your sheep are outside the fence, and a wave as he heads back down the lane , as I say.. Thanks..

Get dressed for outside, and head out.. its Mochaand Carmel that are out.  Mocha is a lead sheep, and both are big four and three year old females, so if they are out, normally more smaller younger followers should be with them.. odd..

So grab a bit of grain and head down to the big barn gates and start bellowing for the sheep.. everyone is there before me waiting, put out half the grain for the flock and open the gate to let in the girls and put out the rest of the grain.. and then start walking the fence lines..

The sheep are not really good at covering their tracks, so I am looking for bent up wire and the tell tale hair on the wire that says a sheep as found a little hollow on the ground and pushed their way under.. the little buggers..

So first walk the big pasture.. nope…then the back corner pasture.. nope, then the correl.. nope, so head out thinking ok, gonna be found in the small pasture.. nope..so I am now heading up one our side fences, even though that does not make sense to me really and come down the main barn path, I went up though the single person gate, raither then the big gate, and there it was, of course at the very last place I look, the big gate which hubby had just put a new latch on the top, but not on the bottom, pushed out just enough on the bottom to let two fat old momma sheep out.. so put it back and stuck a big board in front of it, till we can get another latch to put on the bottom of the gate..
