Health And Weight Loss Update

Its coming, I tell ya, its coming… Spring is moving as slow as a turtle this year but I know that in the next couple weeks bits of green will be found, foraged and brought it.. it might be awhile yet before daily bowls of things like the above are coming in but a girl can dream.

So I am behind LOL, if there is one thing about blog I have learned over the years, like life.. just reboot, and keep plugging away, I will get the rest of those posts done..

I got the results from the last round of tests including the ultrasounds and they all came back normal, excellent.. I had been well from early jan till last week.  Someone near us at the bird sale must have been just waiting for us.. as both my bird buddy and myself got this lovely sickness..   Cough, Cough, Cough! I went down on tueday last.. one week ago, and while I have been sick, it was a normal cold-flu thing.. down for three days, and working my way better each day after..

I still need to be careful as I have a sore throat and tire out but trust me when I fist pump and go YA! at being able to have a normal time frame on my cold..

Ok on to weight lost, while I am unsure that it will be staying off once I start eating and moving again, I did weight myself on Monday, and was down 7 pounds but I expect part of that was water, etc, so that puts me down about 12 pounds, I had hubby take measurements as well.

So let me just be straight up on this.. my dear hubby does not do well at creating a balanced meal but he really did try 🙂 and he never said a word when I asked for fruit or this or that afterwards.

However not including the sick week, where I was not as in charge of the food as I normally am, I have been doing good in some ways, struggling in others and down right grumpy on a few things..

Sounds about right LOL

No really its been eye opening to learn things.. I think the thing that started me the most was that most obese people are in fact on a cell level starving themselves, not because they are not eating huge amount of calories but because their calories are so unbalanced that their bodies just keep asking them to eat and eat..

It has truly stunned me at how little food I need to feel full and content for hours IF and WHEN I can get the right balance to meals and to my day in terms of what I eat..

For me so far, I find a good balance in meal is a smaller amount of protein, I must have fat in the meal, smaller amounts of carbs and lots of veggies and a small amount of fruit..

In the most simple terms that I can come up with..

I can eat a lot of the wrong thing or things and never feel content just stuffed, or I can eat a little of the right things and feel really good after..

but having said that, its certainly is still a challenge every day to learn what does and does not work and then try and figure out why.. was it because of something outside the food that had a effect as well..

Someone somewhere so told us fibs when they said.. here eat this and that at that time and amount and you will be good..

They forgot about emotions, hormones, good days and bad, they forgot about stress and lack of sleep, they forgot about the other 99 things that happen in and around you each and every day and how they effect how you interact with your food..

And so it goes 🙂

Lovely Photos was sent to me of my mom and as I am still running today as I have been for days. Lambing, Bird Sales, Company, Spring Yard Work and so much more.. Pork and Cabbage Soup Recipe

DSCN5150I had one small boneless porkchop leftover and wanted to stretch it into a good size pot of hot yummy soup..

  • Half a large onion, peeled, finely Diced
  • One Garlic clove, peeled finely diced
  • Quarter of a med size cabbage, cored and coarsely chopped
  • 2 tbsp. of tomato paste
  • One cut up boneless small porkchop
  • quarter cup of pot barley
  • quart and half of white broth or veggie broth
  • quarter cup of greens- dried or fresh

Add a touch of oil or fat, fry up your onion and garlic till clear and done, then add your broth, the barley, cabbage, tomato paste, and cabbage, cook till barley and cabbage is done, then add in your greens and wilt and or simmer for a min or two

If you do not want to add the barley, consider a small potato diced and cooked with or consider replacing the barley with one cup of canned pre-cooked Black Beans.
