Would it be the attractive man with the pipe? no… I’ll bet you bought the buggy.

    • LOL, I did bring home a attractive man with beard and strawhat but I came with him also LOL.. Nope, didn’t get the buggy, it was amazing though 115 years old is that buggy and it went for just a touch over three thousand dollars..

Good to know that you didn’t “upgrade” the model. Amazing to think of all the skills that are lost with the passing of these farmers.

  2. The Amishman! You took home the Amishman! What’s his name? How much did you pay?

It’s actually funny that he’s wearing such a casual shirt. I think of the Amish as being “more plain”, but none of my Old Order Mennonite friends would pose for a photo and their men always wear button shirts.

The little buggy is *gorgeous*. Only a two-seater, though, right? What’s the tool in the fifth picture?

    • There were over 20 plus peices of draft powered equipment and the Amish came from three different communities and bought almost all of the equipment up, only two peice where not bought by them, including the one I got.. (I came with DH and left with DH LOL)

Ah the Tool in the fifth picture.. GOOD eye Doomer.. that would be listed as on the flyer by the owner of the sale as a single draft snow plow, according to the amish gent that bid on it, he said it was a ditch digger and according to my mom, out west its called a “scoop”

Regardless of what the “proper” name is, because to be honest at this point, I am unsure, anyone else want to chime in on what this is called?

It is a combo of a draft powered wheelbarrol and draft powered digger.. my mom had one back in the 70’s once, and you can use it to haul things around but when I get this one cleaned up a bit, DH will sharpen up that front lip to a edge and then you tip up with the handles and it cuts into the manure pile and fills the scoop, you lift up with the handles and it pops up full and then you walk on to where you want it and then using the handles you side dump the manure, dirt, rocks or whatever to where you want them, you can also do the same thing in driving a new clean snow path from house to barn etc.

Doomer wins part of the prize for at least asking about this! and yes, I brought it home with me!

My guess is you bought one of those ‘bridles’ ……..

    • Close, very close, no bridle but I did come home with a matched set of Brichen for Girl.. Of course I only need one for her but they sold them as a set and so replacement parts.. I got them for 10 dollars each which is amazing because locally, you are looking at between two or three hundred each new..
