How NOT to make a cake.. No really, don’t ever try this at home..

Open fridge..

Look at homemade mayo.. starting to go.. hmm, Throw in a bowl.. Pre-heat oven to 350

Open oldest Sheep yogurt jar.. throw in bowl.. Rince Jar, pour into bowl

Start digging for jars of this and that..  come out of fridge with three jars..

1 oz of red current jam, 3 oz of chokeberry jelly, and about 5 oz of mixed fruit of strawberry  rhubarb with apple mint, dig out and throw in bowl, give it all a mix..

Walk over to cupboard.. open.. and throw a handful of sliced almonds that you roasted off a couple days ago and didn’t use all of them..  Pour in around two cups or so of flour, a pinch of salt and half a lid of baking powder, walk away, walk back and break up and add a few walnuts to the mix..

Start mixing, opps, to dry.. add half a cup or so of warm water into bowl, whisk till no lumps, pour into a greased 9 by 9 glass pan and bake in over till done..

Good heavens, unstead of the everything but the kitchen sink soup, its the everything that needs to be used up cake.. Repeat at your house if you dare!…bum, bum.. BOOYAAA..

Wow, I could never be that relaxed about measuring… You should call it your Laissez-faire Cake.
Okay, spill it: how’d it turn out? Kinda like a fruit and nut quick bread I guess, eh?
So did it taste good, or what? You can’t just leave us hanging like that, for Pete’s sake!

    Hi Girls,

It took about 8 min longer to cook them a normal cake that size typically does but to be fair, I am learning my new oven as well, so half a dozen of one and half a dozen of the other?

It came out dark brown with flecks, a heavy very moist fruit/nut cake with a cranberry like tangy to it, with a fairly heavy crust on the sides, so yup a heavy moist fruit cake, despite cooking it till the stick came out clean, the middle was perfect for bread pudding where the outer ring made nice cake pieces.. all in all, good eating but won’t pull this one out for the in-laws LOL

Daisy, let me know if your’s is a Booyaaa! 🙂

Okay, so call me ignorant, but where’s this “Booyah!” thing coming from, anyway?

    • For me at least, its a throw back to my brother and his time in the Canadian Forces, he was known to say both Hoorah and Booyaa, and I spent some time around him when home. and I guess it came back with me.. If there is a current new hip reason for saying Booyaaa, then I am just as ignorant about it as you 🙂

  6. Infantry speak! pongos! just like me.

I had to look to the comments to figure out if the um, cake was good or not.
