What a morning its been.. Glenda has arrived.. things are so far going very well.. still getting the hang of this standing thing! Girl is a awesome momma and did it all by herself.
Been up, walked, had a nurse, time for a laydown and a nap!

Hooray for Girl and Happy Birthday Marvin!
And Happy Victoria Day – what a way to celebrate!!
Happy birthday Marvin! (I can never hear that name without thinking of Marvin the Martian from Bugs Bunny -“Where’s the kaboom? There was supposed to be an Earth shattering kaboom?”)
Your waiting is over and I’m sure you are relieved that all is well 🙂 Congrats 🙂
Very relieved, she passed the afterbirth this afternoon, I have seen Glenda up and nursing, her front teats are easy to milk but her back are not so much and she is very full, the first mini-milking I tried was bad.. finally just milked to the ground, we had to many people as well.. this time I groomed her and she started dripping milk, got a reasonable first milking out before she really stqrted fussing, so we put the calf on her and double milked her, the calf did back and I did front both sides, she is still very full and lots of milk but at least some got out.. wait another hour and half and we will try the big sit down, grain, stall milking.. right now I am just trying to get her used to being touched again and rubbed etc. I can see that the next week is going to be a big learning curve for both of us.. I figure it will take at least two weeks to get it all figured out.. on the other hand, I have beastling milk in the house for use tonight.. thoughts on what I should make with it?
Yogourt?
Or Pudding?
Or how about using the pudding to make a Trifle (to celebrate Queen Vickie’s Weekend; )?

Marvin… ummm… Glenda is gorgeous. Congrats to Girl and to the rest of the barnyard.
I know, I know.. way to excited the first time.. but I have had a full body check, and the sex is not changing again, promise 🙂
Oh, hey that’s ‘WAY better…
(Now you’ve got a two cow herd!: )
Yehaw!!
Well, I looked up “beastling milk” and the overwhelming answer was Lemon Curd Tarte http://www.channel4.com/4food/recipes/chefs/hugh-fearnley-whittingstall/yorkshire_curd_tart
lol, can you imagine how many tarts you can make with 2 and half gallons..
going to make cheese, soap, freeze some and will go from there to start with..
Congrats on the new arrival!
