I made some little tiny ones in fun molds for Valentines day in creamy white with lemon scent, and then I made a batch of cinnamon/oatmeal and a batch of cranberry/almond scub bars.. they all turned out great.. can’t wait to make a big batch of sheep milk soap, my first one is just going to be a plain batch.

Farmgal Rant..
I am sorry to have this rant, I might not even post this.. I most likely will and I am sure I will lose a reader or two.. but I have to write this.. If you live in an apartment or a tiny condo in the city, you can be many things.. You can be […]
I Yield I Yield LOL
Ok, its just going on record that we are going to be “in just in time mode” on most things this year. Let me give a example.. we have pulled at least a hundred or two wild parsnips but then we needed to focus on this or that.. and suddenly this week, we are like.. […]

Oh, these sound very interesting! A(nother) new sideline, perhaps?; )
Is there a link you could share here?
They are wonderful althought Dh thought that they sounded like really good cookies by the name?
Not sure about the sideline but for sure on gifts and maybe, I guess it could be considered for friendly barter etc.
Link? Do you mean recipe? I got my goat milk melt and pour soap from a ontario company, I put a tbsp of cinnomon and 1/8th of a cup of smale flake oatmeal and I ground it up in my little herb grinder till very fine, and added and stirred in at the end, for the Cranberry, I took some of my own homedried cranberries, and a heaping tbsp of sliced almonds from my pantry and ground them to a fine powder, (this one was softer and a bit damper) and again at the end mixed in.. Each batch made six small round bar’s of soap, the third batch was left cream with lemon and lemon grass oil added in at six drops each and then I used chocolate molds to make little tiny molded soaps from it.
Tomorrow, I will do a full write up and link to the lye calculator etc for when I do the sheep milk soap, I am going to try it two different ways, the big difference being when the lye is added to the milk, which appears to effect the color of the soap, if I do it at one stage, they all say it will be a light to med brown, where if I do it at a different stage, I can get a much lighter/softer tan color.. While folks seem to be able to get white goat/cow, with the sheep milk, they all seem to say that I should expect a darker color, which is odd, cause I have made goat milk soap and it was creamy in color..
Would the brand of lye make a change?
Or even time of year (feed) affect the milk > colour?
Maybe, I have in fact gotten two types of lye, one is better for making liquid soap and the other is better for making hard soap but they can be both used in the right portions, the time of year feed should not effect, it appears directly related to how hot the lye gets and if it “burns” the milk proteins that result in the color change, so starting with almost frozen milk is a good start, keeping the jug that is being mixed into a bowl with cold water/ice will also help. The other choice I have is to give on using all milk, and go water for the mix and then add the milk after alot of the heat has passed, but I don’t really want to do that if I don’t have to.
Wow, sounds complicated… A lot to learn here.
No, by link I meant source of soap making info/supplies.
