This is a total successs! going to repeat again for sure!

She is still sitting on the nest, I can still hear peeping, but she is also coming off just long enough to take the older ones over to eat and drink and then back again to the nest. so I will give her another day and then pull the rest of the eggs. We appear to have one weak keet, but it could be young or ? and the rest seem perfect.
Yup, its time to crack out the board games and have a little fun on the homestead.. Some Gloom, its a awesome card board game, and Dh’s brother without a doubt won the contest for best into it!

In case you were wondering where the heck I have been, its summer, its crazy busy and I have been holding down the fort, getting ready, DH’s mom and brother arrived last week and are here till next week, when the very next day my cousin and her man arrive for a good visit..
We are going to be doing some touring, so ideally, I hope to get some photos and at least see if I can find time to get some cool and interesting photos up for you..
So here is my overview, the farm is good, the grass grows, the sheep are good, goon has been moved from being a house lamb to a yard lamb, he is eating very well and seems to be doing good on his new routine. The rabbits are growing like crazy, the barn crew is excellent, and the horse is great and watch for news on that front!
The gardens are crazy, the fall plantings are up and growing well already, I have massive amounts of beans planted for fall cropping along with a number of other things, the spring plantings are on last legs, the summer growth and cropping are coming along nicely. The squash garden is stunning!
the round bales gardening is coming but not as well as the one on the round, I have six different clutches being sat on, some are as close as should be hatching this week, so we will see what I get or don’t get..

I went tradional, they were boiled, with a touch of fresh sweet butter, salt and pepper and eaten with delight.. they made a amazing supper! Fresh from the garden, a thing of beauty!! Sharing the bounty, it warms the heart.
For those that are new to the blog, when we bought the farm, it came with two big spruce tree’s and two huge willow trees a single old crabapple in the yard, no gardens, no flowerbeds, nothing else but lots and lots and lots of lawn.. we have been the ones that have planted all the fruiting tree’s and bushes and canes etc.
We planted sour and sweet cherry tree’s, we planted itty bitty tree’s, some have died, some have grown and grown well and I faithfully didn’t let them produce as the books said, and then last year when we should have had a good crop, it was that dang late frost..
So this year, let me say that first!! sweet cherry was amazing and the end goal of a many years of planning and work, given that we currently have five cherry trees in the food forest, at some point in the future, we will have lots and lots of fresh eating and preserving cherries!
