Beet Juice.. new juicer.. need a better recipe?

Well, you can drink it, if you use a straw and just do it, but pleasurable it is not..

I got a new powerful juicer, and I will admit compared to the old second hand one that seemed to waste a lot, this one, I get like double the juice from the same amount put in and the end is much finer produced and the chickens love it, it also works well as added fiber to add back into my old hounds food, as long as you add back in the water to puff it back up, its so well ground that its excellent for her tummy.

the mess however is just something else, you spend more time, prepping and cleaning then dirnking.. still if it really does help, I will do it..

But I think I need a new recipe, I was told, one beet root and one carrot, they said if I cut the beet root juice with carrot juice, I would like it better, and so that is what I did but let me tell you, its not dreamy!

So I am thinking about trying this..

one beet, one carrot, one celery, and one small apple, with a small pieces of ginger root..

What do you guys think? Any juicers out there.. any of you include beet in your juicing? if so what is your favorite recipe?

Its such a odd odd color, you just don’t see that much that is quite so dark, rich dark blood red in any other way.

I’m not a juicer, at least not for years, but to me this combo sounds delicious!

A sweet apple should definitely do it. It makes just about any juice palatable.

I managed to pick up a Champion juicer at a thrift store, one of my top 5 finds. It’s awesome, but the thing that I really really like about it is it’s so quick and easy to clean. You can also get replacement parts for almost all of it.

We have been juicing since April after watching “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” (check for it on you tube). Our favourite juice is Joe Cross’s Mean Green juice. The hubby likes a juice with beets, raspberries and apple. Check out Joe’s Reboot web site for lots of juice recipes.

  5. I don’t juice with a juicer but I did make my own “V8” juice this year….well kind of, I looked that the ingredients on the can and did something close. The “real” ingredients are:TOMATOES, CARROTS, CELERY, BEETS, PARSLEY, LETTUCE, WATERCRESS, SPINACH. I used tomatoes, beets, carrots, celery, pear, onion, sweet orange peppers and a bit of black pepper. I cooked it down and put it through my food mill. I liked it so well that I canned it.
