Carmel Popcorn

2012-12-24 700 (600x450)Do you eat popcorn? if so, are you a butter and salt popcorn kind of person? do you use hot air or do you do it the old fashion way in a heavy bottom pot with oil? We eat a fair amount of popcorn in our house, its one of our steady regular crunch treats, we do it in a pot and we tend to make eight cups at a time normally.

The other night I decided to make a real special treat, butter, cream and brown sugar combined with heat makes a nice basic carmel popcorn treat.. Given how sweet it is, you would certainly not want this to be your regular popcorn but it was such a good treat, and you need to eat very little to get your sweet tooth fix šŸ™‚

Can I assume you pour the carmel on the popcorn once its popped.

    • yes, denise, you pop your popcorn and let it sit while you make the carmel, then pour over it in circle motions, then take a wooden spoon and quickly stir it though the popcorn, so that it spreads and covers them all, if you want it dry like at the store, you would then spread it over a large baking sheet and put it in a 300 degree oven and every few minutes, pull it out, break up the popcorn and stir it, and it will bake on and become dry, once its no longer wet, allow to cool, break up any clumps and you have lovely tradional carmel popcorn or you can serve it up wet, sticky and still warm.. its good that way as well šŸ™‚

Given that you’re using Girl’s whole milk butter and cream, I can only imagine how heavenly this must taste!
