Corn Harvest has started..

Well, its certainly not as good as normal but we are going to get about 220 cobs of corn that is around eight or so inches long and mostly filled, three different kinds, which will give me around four bushels or so, so there will be lots of canning going on soon to put up my years supply of canned and creamed corn.. Given that a cob locally is running right around 25 cents each, I am glad our own crop turned out.

So you’ve got 55$ worth of food from how much worth of seed? (Of course that never includes your labour costs):

    • 99 cents worth of seed, true on the labour cost but really the picking, shucking and processing will take longer then it did to plant it, we did have to give it a bit of water in the worst of the heat/drought, I don’t know if we would have gotten it though without a the few waterings we did do, I think we watered five times in total, hope next year is more normal..
