Well, here she is.. still mulling and thinking but its a maybe, the perk of being set up for when Miss Piggy was smaller is that we are set up and good to go.. and we have lots of ground to be rooted up, so she would not be bored that’s for sure..

Farmgal Rant..
I am sorry to have this rant, I might not even post this.. I most likely will and I am sure I will lose a reader or two.. but I have to write this.. If you live in an apartment or a tiny condo in the city, you can be many things.. You can be […]
I Yield I Yield LOL
Ok, its just going on record that we are going to be “in just in time mode” on most things this year. Let me give a example.. we have pulled at least a hundred or two wild parsnips but then we needed to focus on this or that.. and suddenly this week, we are like.. […]

So, while she’s “tilling” for you what all is she eating… Grubs ‘n bugs, roots ‘n weeds? Fussy about certain types of these, or not?
(Watched them as a kid, but not so close as to know the answers to my questions; )
All of the above, she will eat bugs, worms, grubs, she will eat and tamp down higher greens, she will turn the soil and mix the different types together, she will dig out small tree stumps or clumps (the bigger pigs are better suited for clearly pasture when it comes to trees etc) but Tooties (already got a nickname ) will be working in area’s that are tree clear.. She will also get to clean up dropped fruits, berries and nuts around the farm.
She will get to help work in dumped piles of compost, and will also be put to work in the barns, I like to turn the pigs into the winter stalls to root up the deep pack, which makes it much! easier for us to them haul out and it composts 50X faster then regular deep pack that is hauled and put in piles to compost, a properly done deep pack that has been pig rooted can be directly spread out in the pastures at a half to inch rate and just allowed to settle and go, where normally, you would want it to go for a year or two before being able to do that..
As for fussy, its a good idea to help teach her what I do want her to eat, you do this by chopping up the kinds of things you want eaten and add it into her good feed and she will learn to develop a taste for it as it means good eats.. plus when when I only had sheep and goats, it was little piles, now that I have cows, its a good thing to hae someone that will also flip and spread cow pies..
