Now some of these did really well, the bales that were able to touch the ground and wick the water even though they sat on the wood, produced really good results, the bales that sat on the wood above ground level and could not wick the water, did nothing.. the plants grew, but as very very stunted.. it will be interesting to see what happens after a full fall, winter an spring to settled, shift and soak the water, I can see it now, next year, the bales will be sea of green!

This is very cool! We have some spoiled bales that I bet would be great for this. Making a note to try it next year!
hi bill, if the spoiled bales, can still be unrolled and you have the space for it, do consider making at least one or two into the instant garden hill beds, that worked even more amazing this year.
