Waiting..Waiting…Waiting….

For the calf to be born..

Things have been slowly but steady on the Girl front, as the rains came in last night, she was moved to her big birthing pen with one half bedded down and the other her eating, drinking and bathroom area’s. Despite lack of sleep thoughtout the night, its clear that she is moving along on her birthing, each time spent with her watching and checking, I could clearly see the next stages, the last time I was in checking, less then 30 min ago, we for the first time had side laying, this is great, as that is the proper typical position that she should be in for delivery, and she has moved over to small groans when the contracts hit.. she has also gone into the stage of up and down and sniff and smell her leaking fluids..

Its just a matter of time and as she is very focused, calm and almost zen like, I am just following her lead on this..

For Brandy to trust me enough to stay laying down when I come up to her…

Brandy trusts me enough to roll when on lead or off lead right by me, she will go down and roll, but she is still not willing to let me walk those final four or six feet and pet her while she is relaxed and down on the ground.. this morning I really wish she would.. she was laying sleeping and she stretch out and lifted her head in greeting, (thinking I was heading to the barn yet again) and I though, good time to give a hello and I thought for sure this time she would let me do it, but nope at the very last second she sat up and then stood up to greet me..

For any hen, be it chicken, fowl or guniea to do broody.. (other then the turkey hen)

the only female birds on this farm that don’t have a mate, is the turkey hen and she is the only one faithfully sitting on a nest of eggs.. get it together girls, I want little ones!

For the seeds to sprout in the main garden..

Ok, I have seeds out there that are coming on two weeks to one week in and its been warm, and I have been faithful in my watering, I want to see you poking your little heads up and out of the ground already! Get with it LOL

For the rains to come.. Gentle wonderful rain last night, no need at all to water the gardens this morning but is a wonderful morning of sunshine, filled with the sounds of a number of singing birds, with blue sky all the way around.. we could honestly use the couple days of rain they said was coming our way.. so bring on the rain..

What are you waiting for today?

Hopefully the grass will dry up abit so I can finally cut it! My son fixed the flat tire on my lawn tractor last night – yippee! I didn’t rake any leaves last fall so the mixture of green grass and leaves will be welcome in my garden.

You’ve probably already read tonnes of this kind of stuff by now, but, what the heck, what’s one more… (While you’re waiting; )

    • Yup, yup, still in stage one at this time.. she got up and asked for a walkabout on her last check and so I let her wonder around for a good while and then put her back out into her favorite corner in the yard and she is content but I also was stunned to see how much bigger yet her bag is today compared to yesterday and she has clear discharge.. its just a waiting game at this point.
